A Child Friendly, New Years Party

Before I had children I would celebrate New Years like it was going out of style. Now that I have children I celebrate it with hope. Hope that my family will remain safe, happy and Healthy.

I’m so excited to plan our first New Years celebration with my children. My son was born on New Years Eve so with a day of Birthday celebrations, we will also have a New Years Celebration.

While planning your New Years child friendly party, the first thing you must consider is food. My recommendation is to avoid a big meal. Take this time to enjoy your children, not doing dishes. Some party food ideas are a meat and cheese tray, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pizza rolls, or even order a pizza. We are having little hugs for our beverage. Don’t forget you need lots of snacks; cheese puffs, cookies, and cupcakes are a must!!

The next things on your to do list, should be organizing activities. Some of my ideas for celebrating with my children are building a blanket fort, board games, and renting a child friendly movie. If you have older children then you could tie dye tshirts, have an indoor scavenger hunt, make a photo booth with props,or play bingo with prizes.

The last thing on your list should be party favors. As midnight grows near you want to celebrate in style. Party hats, streamer poppers, and horns are a must. I am picking up some glow sticks and glow necklaces as well. It’s so fun to turn out the lights and have a glow party. You may even want some sparkling white grape juice for the stroke of midnight.

Whatever your New Years plans are, I hope you have a safe and cheerful holiday. New Years to me is all about spending time with the people I love most and welcoming the new year together. If 2016 wasn’t your best year then leave it behind and start 2017 with a new fresh outlook and positive mindset. If you had a great year then I hope 2017 will be even better. Anything is possible with the right mindset, and good support.

  1. These are adorable! If I had my kids tbis year I’d have to use some ideas, but we are going to a wedding so they will be with grandma.

  2. I needed some help in this department since my husband will be working and I will be on my own with my kiddos. I didn’t want us to just sit around not doing anything but had like zero ideas. This is a good starting point! Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to you and your family. -Breyona Sharpnack

  3. Can you visit some of my extended relatives with this post? I feel on NYE so many neglect that fact that children will be around. I’m not a stick in the mud just think the littles should be taken into consideration. Great post.

    1. Thank you! I would love to send this post out to them if I could. I know my family didn’t mean any harm but we were always involved in New Years Party. I’m raising my kids differently though, I don’t want them around the drinking and would rather them safe at home.

  4. This is an excellent idea! We are planning on throwing one, but I didn’t think about adding any extras (i.e. Really fun stuff!). I may pick up some board games for my kids, since they have been asking for a few. Happy New Year!
